Method for producing kaolin from coal gangue


The raw material for producing kaolin is coal gangue, which is a solid waste generated during coal production and processing. As the industrial solid waste with the largest emissions in China, the annual emissions of coal gangue far exceed that of slag, steel slag, and fly ash.

The coal gangue is ground, pulped, and classified, and then enters the rotary kiln for high-temperature calcination, which changes the crystal structure of the coal gangue and finally turns into white calcined kaolin.

The calcined kaolin project with an annual output of 3×200,000 tons in Qingshuihe Industrial Park will be constructed in three phases, each with 200,000 tons, with a planned investment of 670 million yuan. In 2022, more than 250,000 tons of coal gangue will be processed and more than 195,000 tons of kaolin will be produced. The total product output accounts for 35% of the output in Hohhot and 10% of the country. The products are widely used in coatings, papermaking and other industries.

It is understood that after the project is fully completed and put into operation, the annual solid waste treatment of coal gangue will reach 1 million tons, and the calcined kaolin will exceed 600,000 tons, accounting for 30% of the country’s total output. The annual sales revenue will exceed 800 million yuan, and the profit and tax will be 120 million yuan. , which can provide employment for more than 350 local people and promote the circular economy of turning coal gangue from waste into treasure.
