Silica Sand Screening

2016-07-30

The most common constituent of  “inland” sand is silica usually in the form of quartz. Sand graded as fine (<0.063), medium (0.063 mm to 0.2 mm) and coarse (0.63 mm to 2.0 mm) and depending on size, humidity levels and composition, these particles are difficult to separate.

Silica sand is mostly used for the production of glass. Other uses are foundry sands, filter sands, sodium silicates and sports sands and horticultural applications. The processing of silica sands requires specialist screening and classification systems yielding products of at least 95% silica and therefore constant particle size distribution and chemical analysis is done to ensure that there is “purity” in the separation process.
Longzhong’s line of ScreenX multifrequency vibrating sieves has proven its ability to successfully screen quartz and silica sand at various sand mines and quarries around the world.
